When moms start thinking about a side income, Shopee Affiliate is often one of the first ideas. No stock, no packing, just share links to things you already use. Sounds really easy, right? But plenty of moms have been sharing for months, and every time they check their earnings it’s still 0 baht.

Let’s go through how the system works, how to sign up, how commission is calculated, why nobody is clicking your links, and why it pays to be honest with your followers from the start. (All terms are based on Shopee’s official pages as of October 2026.)

What is Shopee Affiliate and how does it work?

Quick Answer: You create your own unique product links from Shopee and share them on your channels. When someone taps your link and completes a purchase, you earn a commission on that sale.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Choose products on Shopee you want to recommend
  2. Create your Affiliate link (this link remembers that the buyer came from you)
  3. Share the link with a review on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or in chat groups
  4. Someone taps the link and buys. Once the order is completed, the system credits your commission
  5. Shopee transfers the money to your account each cycle

Besides links, the program terms also count sales that come from the product basket in Shopee Video, so if you’re better at short videos, you can go that route.

What do you need to sign up, and how?

Quick Answer: Sign up free at affiliate.shopee.co.th with your existing Shopee account, your Thai ID card details, and a Thai bank account to receive payments.

All you need:

  • Your own Shopee account
  • Thai ID card details, as the program terms require
  • A Thai bank account in the same name as the applicant
  • The social channels you’ll use to promote, such as a Facebook Page, Instagram or TikTok

It’s free to join. If anyone offers to “sign you up for Affiliate, but you have to pay an account opening fee”, or sells a course that guarantees tens of thousands of baht in income, be careful.

How is commission calculated, and when do you get paid?

Quick Answer: Commission is based on completed orders through your link. Rates vary by product and campaign. Payouts are in cycles once your balance reaches 100 baht.

Beginners often get this wrong:

  • “Up to 60%” is not the normal rate for every product. It depends on the product and campaign. Check that product’s rate in the Affiliate Portal before you share.
  • Only completed orders count. Canceled orders or invalid transactions don’t count.
  • The base may not be the listed price. The terms say discounts, shipping and coupon values are deducted from the calculation.
  • Payment is in 2-week cycles for general partners, once the balance is at least 100 baht. If it hasn’t reached that, it carries over to the next cycle.
  • There is a service fee. Since June 1, 2025, Shopee has deducted a service fee from partner earnings. The rate is shown in the Affiliate Portal and may change, so check it before you estimate your income.

Put simply, the commission figure you see when you create a link isn’t what lands in your account. The service fee and tax still come off.

Quick Answer: Because people don’t buy because they see a link. They buy because they trust the person recommending it. Links dropped with no story or real experience barely get any clicks.

Common culprits:

  • Sharing products you’ve never used. Readers can tell it’s just selling.
  • Sharing everything. An air fryer today, lipstick tomorrow, car accessories the day after. Your followers don’t know what you’re good at.
  • Pasting links in big groups over and over. Many groups ban this and you may get deleted or banned.
  • Not answering what people really want to know, like “what age is it for?”, “is it hard to clean?”, “what makes it better value than other brands?”

If it were us, we’d pick one topic you really use every day, like newborn essentials, age-appropriate toys, or organizing a home with little kids, then share honestly, pros and cons. Strange but true: reviews that dare to mention the downsides usually win readers over more.

Quick Answer: Yes. Shopee Affiliate’s terms require partners to follow promotion guidelines and disclose advertising, and being upfront is what makes people come back and trust you again.

How to say it without feeling awkward:

  • Write at the end of the post: “This is an Affiliate link. If you buy through it, I earn a small commission. The price you pay stays the same.”
  • Add a hashtag or note saying it’s an ad, as the platform recommends.
  • Don’t exaggerate in reviews, such as saying something cured your baby’s rash, or is “100% safe”, without evidence. With baby products, be extra careful.

There are also things the terms clearly ban, such as creating fake orders, dishonest transactions, or spamming links unrelated to your content. Shopee has the right to withhold commission and suspend your account.

How much will you really earn?

Quick Answer: At first, most people earn in the hundreds of baht a month, or don’t even reach the 100 baht minimum. Those earning tens of thousands have usually been making content consistently for months and have followers who trust them.

A quick example: if you recommend a 300 baht product with 5% commission, that’s 15 baht per item. You’d need to sell about 7 to reach 100 baht, and the service fee still comes off. (The 5% is just an example to give you a picture. Check the actual rate in the Portal.)

So think of Affiliate as a side income that grows slowly, rather than main income in the first month. The upside is that you can do it while the baby naps, prep posts ahead of time, and there’s no stock risk. If you want a more predictable income, you could look at Freelancing for new moms alongside it.

Do you pay tax on Affiliate income?

Quick Answer: You need to declare it for personal income tax. Commission is a brokerage fee, classed as 40(2) income. You can take a 50% flat expense deduction, but combined with any salary it’s capped at 100,000 baht.

  • The program terms say Shopee may withhold tax as required by law, and the certificates can be downloaded from the Affiliate Portal for up to 12 months back. Download and save them regularly.
  • File PND 90 (ภ.ง.ด.90) early the following year. Tax already withheld can be credited, and some people get a refund.
  • Affiliate income is a different type from income from selling in your own shop. If you do both, record the income separately.

What you can do this week

Quick Answer: Pick one topic you really use, sign up, and write your first 3 honest reviews, saying they’re Affiliate links.

  1. Pick one topic you really use every day
  2. Sign up at affiliate.shopee.co.th and check commission rates for products you already use
  3. Write your first 3 honest reviews, with pros and cons, and say they’re Affiliate links
  4. Look at your stats to see which posts get clicks, then do more of that
  5. Download your tax documents every quarter

Affiliate income really does grow slowly, but it grows from trust. If you recommend things you actually use to other moms, simply and honestly, those small links will start to mean something over time.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

  1. 01What do I need to sign up for Shopee Affiliate?

A Shopee user account, your Thai ID card details, and a Thai bank account to receive payments. Sign up on affiliate.shopee.co.th and fill in the social channels you will use to promote. There is no sign-up fee.

  2. 02What commission percentage does Shopee Affiliate pay?

Rates vary by product and campaign, and you can see them in the Affiliate Portal before you create a link. Shopee advertises up to 60%, but not every product gets that rate. Always check the rate for the product you are sharing.

  3. 03When does Shopee Affiliate pay, and what is the minimum?

Under the program terms, general partners are paid in 2-week cycles once the balance is at least 100 baht. If it hasn't reached that, it carries over to the next cycle. Orders must be completed before they count as earnings.

  4. 04Do I need a lot of followers to do Shopee Affiliate?

You don't need many, but you do need people who trust your recommendations. A small account that reviews baby things it really uses for other moms usually does better than sharing random product links in big groups.

  5. 05Do I have to tell my audience it's a commission link?

You should, every time. Shopee Affiliate's terms require partners to follow promotion guidelines and disclose advertising, and being upfront keeps your followers' trust in the long run.

  6. 06Do I pay tax on Shopee Affiliate income?

You need to declare it for personal income tax. Commission counts as a brokerage fee, which is type 40(2) income. Shopee may withhold tax, and certificates are available to download in the Affiliate Portal.
